The Brussels EU Liaison Office of the Autonomous Province of Trento
The Office of the Autonomous Province of Trento for the relations with the EU in Brussels took its first steps in autumn 1995 thanks the collaboration with the Autonomous Province of Bolzano and the Land Tyrol. The ultimate goal of this collaboration is to utilize each piece of knowledge and information regarding community policies which are aimed at widening the collaboration between the respective territories.
The constitution and the activities of the Office have been governed, subsequently, by the provincial law n. 16 of the 13th of November 1998 and its following modifications.
The Office of PAT (Autonomous Province of Trento) is led by a director helped by two provincial functionaries and is located in the framework of the Department for Institutional Affairs and Relations. The activity undertaken by the Office concentrates on three main areas: institutional, training and consulting.
Institutional area: institutional representation of the Province in the communitarian institutions; monitoring of the legislative activity and periodic communication of acts and significant communitarian initiatives back to the provincial offices; supporting activities in the procedures of notification of provincial acts to the Commission and assistance for infraction procedures; monitoring of the opinion projects of the Committee of the Regions and their relative communication back to the provincial offices.
Training area: numerous activities to support seminars, guided visits to the communitarian institutions, training activities for youngsters’ groups, university students and high school pupils are carried out by our Office. Moreover it prepares and manages all the phases of the events linked to visits and seminars, with the preparation of programs, meetings and appointments.
Tutoring of the formative activity of the four interns who, during the course of the year, are sent by the Department for European Affairs and External Relations.
Welcoming and cultural support for Trentino’s clubs in Belgium.
Consulting area: comprehends the consulting activities and daily information, firstly directed to the provincial structures (it is mainly referred to pieces of information about the application of community law and conformity to the provincial norms, notifications and national aid, etc.) but also towards other public officials, schools, civil society organizations, single citizens.
